Don’t be fooled by fad diet plans that promise unsustainable results. One of my favorite sayings is “keep it simple”. When you keep it simple, you are most likely able to lose weight consistently and successfully.
6 Tips to help you shed weight
1) Eat more protein rich foods
Protein rich foods like chicken, turkey, fish and beef can actually help you lose weight because almost all protein rich foods have zero to near zero carbs.
Eating protein helps you feel full because it takes longer to digest. Now, how you cook your food is also very important. When cooking your protein rich meals, bake or grill your meal instead of frying and if you decide to use the skillet or frying pan, make sure you use a small to moderate amount of healthy cooking oil, like olive oil or canola oil.
2) Cut carbs
Eating a large amount of carbs will make you pack on pounds/kilos easily. When it’s time to diet, eat small portions of healthy carbs like yams, sweet potatoes and oatmeal.
3) Use portion control
This is especially useful for most people who enjoy eating bread and rice and find it hard to cut it from their diet. Use small plates or dishes to serve your food. Use small utensils to eat because it will take you longer to finish each meal and make you feel fuller.
Most people have families and full time jobs that don’t allow any spare time to go to the gym. The amazing thing is eating healthy alone will make you lose weight and
exercising amplifies the speed at which you’ll lose weight.
If time is the issue then you can dedicate 15 to 30 minutes a day to home exercises that can help you burn between 200 to over 500 calories depending on individual size and intensity of exercise performed. Eg: burpees, jumping jacks, jump rope, push-ups, squat jumps, jump lunges etc.
5) Drink water
Don’t drink your calories, I’m talking about fruit juice, soft drinks, alcohol, regular or diet soda. This is probably the fastest way to pack on unhealthy weight because sugar is extremely addicting.
Sugary drinks are loaded with excess sugar and have almost no nutritional benefits. Drinking water can help you feel fuller therefore reducing the urge to eat more than the body requires and it also helps the body flush out toxins.
6) Eat more fruits and vegetables
Fruits and Vegetables are mostly low/medium in calories, carbs and are filled with important nutrients like calcium, fiber, potassium, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, folic acid etc. Eating fruits and vegetables can serve as a substitute for junk food and when hunger hits you can grab a banana to quickly fill you up.
These 6 tips are what I used to drop weight and the same method I advised multiple people to use with great success. It’s almost impossible for most people to cut out junk food, fast food, sugary foods, sugary drinks and many more from their diet.
There is nothing wrong with indulging once in a while but If you live on fast food and junk food then you are setting yourself up for major health issues.
